In an effort to objectively explicate the qualitative metrics that might define a video game, I propose the following ten-point rubric.
Each point is a distinct aspect to be judged as pass or fail. Some points are specific objective measures of events, while others are up to the judgment of the reviewer to determine the general or subjective feelings evoked.
This rubric is a work in progress.

Whether because of the game's visual presentation, gameplay trailer, or the developer's merit, you were enticed enough to download and start playing.
💻 User Interface
The menus and on-screen displays are clean, clear and concise; providing just enough information to inform and engage the player without distracting or overwhelming the senses.
🎨 Art Design
The visual presentation is alluring and beautiful.
🔊 Sound Design
The music is captivating, ambience is immersive, and audio cues add depth to your awareness.
🦾 Game Mechanics
Gameplay is strong, succinct, and rewarding to experience.
📖 Lore & Narrative
The story is captivating, inspiring, or evokes strong feelings.
🌠 Novelty
Either in part or in whole, the game experience has offered something entirely new to you, or a refreshing take on classic ideas.
🧲 Magnetism
No matter the time or distance, you keep coming back for more.
🧠 Mind Share
You find yourself engaged with the game, even when you're not playing, often reflecting upon or discussing it with other players. Even further, you may have found the game's quality to inspire your own creative ambitions.
🏁 Completion
You consider yourself to have completed the narrative campaign, the collection of achievements or trophies, or otherwise achieved a personal feeling or finality.
